- The present perfect is used as a bridge between the past and the present. (relevance to the present)
- It is formed with have/has + past participle of verb.
| Affirmative > I/you/we/you/they have (‘ve) lost my key. he/she/it has (‘s) lost… | Negative > I/you/we/you/they have not (haven’t) he/she/it has not (hasn’t) |
| Questions > Have I/you/we/you/they…? Has he/she/it…? | Negative Questions > Haven’t I/you/we/you/they…? Hasn’t he/she/it…? |
| Short answers > Yes, + subject pronoun + have/has. | No, + subject pronoun + haven’t/hasn’t. |

- I‘ve lost my key.
- He has cleaned my shoes.
- They have moved to a new apartment.
- She has made lunch for everyone.
- My car has broken down again.
- ‘Where’s your sister?’ ‘She‘s gone to bed.’
- I’m looking for my mother. Have you seen her?
- I haven’t been very well.
- He hasn’t bought the newspaper today.
- Has Peter arrived?
- Hasn’t he answered your email?
- Have you seen my mother? Yes, I have.
- Has Paul called you? No, he hasn’t.
- Where have you been?
- Have they invited you to their party? No, they haven’t.
- I haven’t finished my homework.
- It hasn’t been very hot today.
- Somebody has spilt water on the carpet.
- What have you done to your hair?
- Somebody has left the kitchen tap on. The sink is full of water.
