1Hijacked (sequestrado) airplane.

Yesterday, there was a terrifying (aterrorizante) incident at the airport. An airplane was hijacked (sequestrado) by a group of armed men (homens armados). The passengers were taken as hostages (feitos reféns), and the hijackers demanded (sequestradores exigiram) a large ransom (dinheiro do resgate) for their release (libertação). The police quickly surrounded (cercou) the plane and started negotiating with the hijackers. It was a tense situation, and everyone was very scared.

The police worked hard to keep everyone safe. After several hours, they managed to arrest (prender) the hijackers and free the hostages. The passengers were finally safe and unharmed (ilesos). It was a huge relief (alívio) for everyone involved. The bravery (coragem) of the police and their quick action saved many lives.

Incidents like this remind us of the importance of security and the bravery of those who protect us. The passengers and their families were grateful (gratos) for the rescue (resgate). In the end, the hijackers were taken into custody (foram levados sob custódia), and the hostages were able to go home to their loved ones (entes queridos).

2 I am very anxious.

I am very anxious, and it affects my daily life. My anxiety (ansiedade) makes it hard for me to relax and enjoy simple things. Sometimes, I feel nervous for no reason, and it can be overwhelming (avassalador). This constant worry often interrupts my concentration and makes it difficult to complete tasks.

My anxiety also impacts my social interactions. I get anxious (fico ansioso) in social situations, which can make me feel isolated (isolado). It’s frustrating because I want to be more confident (confiante) and relaxed. I know that managing anxiety is important for my well-being (bem-estar).

I am trying different methods to cope with (lidar com) my anxiety. Deep breathing (respiração profunda) exercises, regular exercise, and talking to a therapist have been helpful (úteis) . It’s a slow process, but I am determined to improve. I believe that with time and effort, I can learn to control my anxiety and lead a more balanced (balanceada/equilibrada) life.

3 Excessive cell phone use.

People spend the entire (inteiro) day on their cell phones. Everywhere I look, someone is staring at (encarar/olhando fixamente para) a screen. It’s like we are all addicted (viciados) to our phones. I’ve noticed that people barely (mal/quase não) have real conversations anymore. They are too busy texting or scrolling through (rolando/passando pela) social media.

This excessive cell phone use is affecting our relationships. Instead of talking face-to-face (cara a cara), we communicate through messages and emojis (emojis). It makes me sad to see families sitting together but not talking because everyone is on their phone. We are losing the art of real communication.

I think it’s important to take breaks (fazer pausas) from our phones. Spending time with loved ones (entes queridos) without distractions can help strengthen our bonds (fortalecer nossos laços). We should try to be more present in the moment. I’ve started setting aside (separar/reservar) specific times to check my phone so that I can focus on the people around me.

It’s challenging (desafiador) to break the habit, but I believe it‘s worth it (vale a pena). By reducing our screen time, we can improve our mental health and enjoy life more fully. Let’s all try to be less dependent on our phones and more connected with each other.

4 Staying away from selfish people.

I really want to stay away from selfish (egoístas) people. I can’t stand (não suporto) being around those who only think of themselves. It makes me feel bad and stressed. When I notice someone acting selfishly, I try to distance myself from them. I believe in kindness (bondade) and helping others. Selfishness (egoísmo) creates a negative atmosphere. For my own peace of mind (paz de espírito), I choose to spend time with people who care about others. It’s important to surround myself (me cercar) with positive and caring folks (gente/pessoas). Life is too short to deal with people who harm (fazem mal) us and irritate us. Surrounding myself with positive people makes life much better.”
