1You have nothing to lose.

“Sometimes, we hesitate to take chances (correr riscos) because we’re afraid of failing. But think about it: if you don’t try, you will never know what could have happened. You really have nothing to lose.

Taking risks (assumir riscos) can lead to great opportunities and new experiences. If you fail, you learn something valuable (valioso). If you succeed, you gain something wonderful.

Don’t let fear hold you back (segurar, impedir). Believe in yourself and take that step forward (dê esse passo em frente). Remember, life is too short to live with regrets (arrependimentos). So go ahead (vá em frente), take the chance, and see where it leads you.”

2 Too many bills to pay.

“This month, I have so many bills (contas) to pay. It’s really stressful. I have some overdue bills (contas atrasadas) that I need to settle (acertar). My goal is to get all my bills up to date (colocar em dia). It’s hard to manage (gerenciar) everything with my current salary (salário atual).

I think I need a raise (um aumento) to cover all my expenses (despesas). Paying rent, electricity, water, and internet bills is a lot (muita coisa). Plus, I have to buy groceries (alimentos, comida) and pay for transportation.

I’m trying to budget (fazer um orçamento) carefully, but it’s still tough. Hopefully, I can find a way to balance (equilibrar) everything soon. I just want to be on top of (estar no controle) my finances again.”

3 What do you want to be when you grow up?

“When I grow up (crescer), I want to be a doctor. I’ve always liked helping people and learning about the human body. My sister wants to be a teacher because she loves children and enjoys explaining things.

My best friend dreams of becoming (se tornar) an astronaut and exploring space. There are so many options! Some kids in my class want to be firefighters (bombeiros) or police officers because they want to keep people safe (seguras).

Others think about becoming artists or musicians to express their creativity. It’s exciting (empolgante) to think about the future and all the possibilities. What do you want to be when you grow up?”

4 I have never ridden in a helicopter.

“I have never ridden (andei) in a helicopter, but I would love to try it someday. The idea of flying high above the ground and seeing everything from the sky sounds amazing. My friend once went on a helicopter tour (fez um passeio de helicóptero) and said it was the best experience ever (de todas).

You can see the city, mountains, and oceans all at once. Some people are scared of heights (altura), but I think it would be exciting. I imagine it feels different from being in an airplane because helicopters can hover (pairar) and move in all directions.

Maybe one day, I’ll save up (economize, poupar) some money and take a helicopter ride (faça um passeio de helicóptero). It’s definitely on my bucket list (lista de desejos)!”
